Welcome to UEA Baseball & Softball!

We are the UEA Baseball & Softball Club! Our members come from diverse backgrounds, academic fields and levels of study.
We have seasoned players to first timers so whatever your level of skill, or even if you've never played before,
you'll find a place in our supportive club with lots of opportunity to grow.

We run a cohesive club that plays two different sports, but often practice and socialize together.
We are focused on building a strong feeling of team spirit and have planned lots of fun socials that will help us get to know each other better
and integrate both returners and freshers to the club.

Ever wondered why Baseball & Softball are so popular around the world? Well, now you can ask yourself the same question over here at UEA!
You can touch base with us by swinging by our social media:

Baseball

With Baseball we welcome all players regardless of experience. We have a co-ed team that plays regular fixtures in the BUCS Midlands division across both semesters and also a mixed side in the Norfolk Baseball League. The latter typically runs from March through to June and is a shining of example of what it means to play baseball during the Spring and early Summer months.

Training:

Monday: 16:20-18:00 – INDOOR (Sportspark Hall 1)

Wednesday: 13:00-16:00 – OUTDOOR (Colney Lane)

Saturday: 13:00-16:00 – OUTDOOR (Colney Lane)

If Required: Sunday: 13:00-17:00 – OUTDOOR (Colney Lane)

Softball

For softball, we have a mixed, co-ed group that trains weekly both indoors and outdoors. In addition to organizing friendlies against local sides, we recently have joined BUCS adding more as of the 2021/22 academic year. At UK University Softball Championships we placed 4th out of 12 qualifying universities and are excited to try to match that effort again this year!

Training:

Monday: 16:20-18:00 – INDOOR (Sportspark Hall 1)

Wednesday: 13:00-16:00 – OUTDOOR (Colney Lane)

Saturday: 11:00-13:00 – OUTDOOR (Colney Lane)

Sunday: 13:00-15:00 - OUTDOOR (once a month, Womens session at Colney Lane)

Additional Cost of Sport Ranges

The additional cost of sport project, which was created by the Students’ Union, alongside uea+sport, is designed to give prospective members information on the range of costs they may face in joining their chosen sport.

This range should be taken as guidance. For compulsory costs, this price includes uea+sport membership which is £55, and you only need to pay once to join all of our clubs.

When considering additional costs, some clubs may have none and others may have further costs. This is often dependent on the level of competitiveness for the sport you get involved in, and so recreational or socially playing may be cheaper. You may also have equipment which can be used between multiple sports, for example shoes or gum shields.

For any questions, please ask the sport club for specific further information, or union.opportunities@uea.ac.uk for further information on the project.

Many thanks,

Luke Johnson
