Teaching Excellence Framework

What is it?

The Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) is a scheme run by the Office for Students (OFS) to rank the teaching provided by all universities and higher education providers in England.

Where do I come in?

It's really quite simple! All we need you to do is to follow the below link and complete our survey. The information that you provide will enable us to further examine our strategy around the Teaching Excellence Framework and adjust it according to the most important factor - YOUR needs.

On completion of the survey, you'll be entered into a prize draw where we will be giving away:

  • FIVE PRIZES of £20
  • TWO PRIZES of £50
  • ONE GRAND PRIZE of £100

The survey closes on Friday 25th November 2022.

Fancy doubling your chances at a win?

We are also hosting two focus groups to get your opinions:

Every single participant will receive £10 for turning up!*

*Attendance incentive can only be reclaimed once; attending both focus groups will not increase potential earnings. Registers of attendance will be taken at each focus group.

What are we doing?

The SU are gathering data and writing the “Student Submission” portion of the TEF. It’s 10 pages where we get to talk about real student experiences around the quality of their experience in teaching, as well as their perspectives on what’s called “Student Outcomes” – or how well prepared you are when you leave university.

We’re in the process of writing this and are working towards the deadline of the 24th January for submission. A part of that is collecting and analysing data about your experiences and perspectives – which is where our survey comes in. We’ve designed it to align with parts of the TEF so it’s crucial students fill it out so we accurately represent their views. You’ll also probably see us out and about over the data collection period, so come say hi and fill it out! (There will be sweets involved.)

The survey isn’t the only way we’re collecting data – we’re also running focus groups, talking to your representatives at union council and sharing a full draft with SOC and Education Committee.

If you have any questions or want to get involved, get in touch with Taylor via her email, or you can find out more on the OFS website.
