UEA Student BCAN Society
Are you passionate about ensuring UEA is doing everything it can to mitigate the climate crisis? Join our campaign group that is working towards environmental and climate justice with the university!
What is UEA student BCAN?
We are a student branch of the biodiversity and climate action network here at UEA! We campaign for environmental issues within the university to ensure UEA is facing the climate emergency head-on. One of our main and immediate focuses is the fossil-free careers campaign, advocating for the ban of top fossil fuel financers, as well as the oil, gas and mining industries from future UEA career events and platforms. However, BCAN student society will also work on improving the sustainability of many sectors of the university as a whole, such as climate education, sustainable funding and finance and sustainable food options on campus. BCAN students soc will involve active campaigning, passing of SU motions, brainstorming workshops, networking with other universities and organisations and collaborating with the wider BCAN network from a student perspective.
How can I join?
Our society costs £1 to join for the year (we wanted it to be free but all SU societies must have a cost!). However, we don't just campaign for climate justice, we will also have a number of socials throughout the year including picnics, pub trips, beach days more!
After you have paid your membership fee, be sure to email or message us on Instagram and we will add you to our WhatsApp chat!
Who can join?
