Who are we...?
As UEA's Club of the Year 2017, UEAWFC is an amazing club to be a part of. Get involved in training sessions, BUCS league matches, awesome socials including meals, laser tag, tournaments, and bar/club nights, whilst meeting a really great bunch of people always up for a laugh along the way. We welcome all abilities - from superstars to those who have never kicked a ball before. We have two teams in the BUCS league as well as a local league 11 aside team, meaning we can get more girls than ever involved in university football, and being part of a friendly, inclusive club. We provide both a competitive environment and a social one, allowing members to choose how much they'd like to be involved. There are also opportunities to fundraise, become a coach and improve skills outside the sport to help boost CVs!

Games
We have three teams within the club. Our BUCS first and second teams have matches on Wednesday afternoons against other universities. In the 2023/24 season, both teams fought hard to stay in their respective leagues - 1s in Midlands Tier 2 and 2s in Midlands Tier 3.
We also have an 11 aside team that compete in Division 1 of the Norfolk Women's and Girls League every Sunday afternoon, after securing promotion in the 2021/22 season. The 2023/24 season led to a 7th place finish in the league, and a league cup win! This year the team will train on Friday evenings with our BUCS players and cements our development pathway from beginners to 11 aside football.
All games are a 2pm kick off usually, and played home and away. Match day kit is provided on the day.
An open session will be held at the beginning of the year which provides the coaches a chance to identify each player's abilities, in order to allocate each player to the team best suited to them. Keep your eye out on our instagram for updates for this!
Team selections vary each week with commitment, effort, ability, attitude, fitness and availability all being taken into account. Do not be disheartened if you don't make a BUCS squad in the first week or two, this does not mean you will not in the future. Our coaching staff have the tough job of selections each week alongside the captains.
Outside of games, our 'Turn up & Play' sessions on Mondays & Saturdays teach the fundamentals through fun and engaging games.
As you can see, we have plenty of opportunities for everyone to enjoy and play football.
Socials
Our socials are some of the best on-campus with great organisation and a variety of events. We cater for all individuals including regular sober socials and we have zero tolerance for peer pressure.
Within the club, we have members who are only interested in the social side as well as players who attend socials too. Everyone is welcome! Once again, all social info is posted into our Facebook group.
You are not required to drink alcohol at any socials, if you at any point feel forced to drink please talk to a committee member and we will deal with the individuals involved.

The Real Cost of Sport
The 'Real Cost of Sport' initiative, a project reviewed and rebranded by the Students' Union in partnership with uea+sport, aims to provide prospective members with a comprehensive overview of the potential costs of joining their chosen sports club. This year, I have worked closely with the clubs to ensure these tables are as accurate and up-to-date as possible.
This guide is intended to serve as a general reference. The compulsory cost includes the uea+sport membership fee of £55, which is a one-time payment that covers membership across all clubs.
When considering additional expenses, it is important to note that some clubs may not have any extra costs, while others might incur additional fees. These costs often depend on the level of competitiveness within the sport; recreational or social participation is generally less expensive. Additionally, some equipment, such as shoes or gum shields, may be used across multiple sports, potentially reducing overall expenses.
For any specific questions or further information about a particular club, please contact the club directly or contact us at union.opportunities@uea.ac.uk for more details about the project.
All the best,
Olivia Hunt
