Welcome to UEA Baseball & Softball!
We are the UEA Baseball & Softball Club! Our members come from diverse backgrounds, academic fields and levels of study.
We have seasoned players to first timers so whatever your level of skill, or even if you've never played before, you'll find a place in our supportive club with lots of opportunity to grow.
We run a cohesive club that plays two different sports, but practice both together.
We are focused on building a strong feeling of team spirit and have planned lots of fun socials and events throughout the year to help get to know each other better and integrate both returners and freshers to the club.
Ever wondered why Baseball & Softball are so popular around the world? Well, now you can ask yourself the same question over here at UEA!

So give it a shot! We'd love to have you on board and show you why University baseball and softball clubs are popping up all over the UK!
Baseball
With Baseball we welcome all players regardless of experience. We have a co-ed team that plays regular fixtures in the BUCS Midlands division across both semesters.
We also play in the Norfolk Baseball League, this typically runs from March through to June and is a shining of example of what it means to play baseball during the Spring and early Summer months.
We have qualified for the UK University Baseball Championships three years in a row, placing second in 2022, and third in 2023.
Training:
Monday: 16:20-18:00 – INDOOR (Sportspark Hall 1)
Wednesday: 13:00-16:00 – OUTDOOR (Colney Lane)
Saturday: 13:00-16:00 – OUTDOOR (Colney Lane)

Softball
For softball, we have a mixed, co-ed group that trains weekly both indoors and outdoors. In addition to organizing friendlies against local sides, we recently have joined BUCS adding more as of the 2021/22 academic year. At UK University Softball Championships we placed 4th out of 12 universities both in 2022 and 2023 and are excited to try to match that effort again this year!

The Real Cost of Sport
The 'Real Cost of Sport' initiative, a project reviewed and rebranded by the Students' Union in partnership with uea+sport, aims to provide prospective members with a comprehensive overview of the potential costs of joining their chosen sports club. This year, I have worked closely with the clubs to ensure these tables are as accurate and up-to-date as possible.
This guide is intended to serve as a general reference. The compulsory cost includes the uea+sport membership fee of £55, which is a one-time payment that covers membership across all clubs.
When considering additional expenses, it is important to note that some clubs may not have any extra costs, while others might incur additional fees. These costs often depend on the level of competitiveness within the sport; recreational or social participation is generally less expensive. Additionally, some equipment, such as shoes or gum shields, may be used across multiple sports, potentially reducing overall expenses.
For any specific questions or further information about a particular club, please contact the club directly or contact us at union.opportunities@uea.ac.uk for more details about the project.
All the best,
Olivia Hunt
