The MHFA course is a way to practise the skills needed to notice when someone is struggling with their mental health, to gain the confidence to start a conversation with them and to know how to signpost them to the right support.
We are pleased to announce that HEaducate UEA will be offering a subsidised 2-day Mental Health First Aid training course witht he help of Headucate UK to 8 members! This is an accrediated course that last for 3 years, and is a great qualification to add to your CV. As you all likely already know, 1 in 4 people experience a mental health related issue every year. This training is super important in ensuring people are equipped to help out where they can. This course usually costs around £330 but you will only have to pay £50! This is possible with the help of Headucate UK and Headucate UEA subsidising most of the costs.
Skills you can gain from the course:
- Ability to recognise those that may be experiencing poor mental health
- Ability to provide them with first-level support and early intervention
- Confidence to encourage a person to identify and access supports
- Able to have conversations with better mental health literacy around language and stigma
- Practise active listening and empathy
- Practise self-care

- Learning takes place through a mix of instructor led training, individual reflections, and group discussions.
