Superhero Marathon, Pt 1
Saturday 12 October 2024, 10:15am - 9:45pm
Lecture Theatre 3
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's a movie marathon!
Join the Geek Society in Lecture Theatre 3 as we explore the evolution of superheroes in film and TV!
Our first day begins with Superman and Lois Lane facing off against a gang of armed thieves in a classic cartoon from the 1940s, followed by the Man of Steel’s first live-action feature film, Superman and the Mole Men. Next, we’ll dive into the zany world of Batman, featuring Adam West in the title role, followed by a fan-favourite episode of Spider-Man’s 1960s cartoon, and an episode of Wonder Woman starring Lynda Carter. After that, Superman is back, this time coming up against the dastardly Lex Luthor, before we return to the world of animation for a double-bill of Batman: The Animated Series and X-Men: The Animated Series. To round off the day, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine teams up with a bald guy who looks weirdly like that dude from Star Trek to take on a man in an uncomfortable-looking hat who bears a striking resemblance to the wizard from The Lord of the Rings in 2000’s blockbuster hit, X-Men.
Everyone’s welcome to come along, and we’ve made sure to pick films and episodes that don’t require any prior knowledge to enjoy. Join us for the whole marathon, or just drop in for your favourites!
