Banner Making - Reclaim the Night

Monday 03 March 2025, 11am - 4pm

Exhibition space, Union house

All women deserve to be safe as they move around our city—anywhere and at any time. Since its inception in Leeds in 1977, the Reclaim the Night movement has sought to draw attention to the dangers that women face when moving through urban spaces in the dark and reaffirm the right of all people to safety from harassment, intimidation, and violence while living their lives.

Whether it be the personal stories that every woman has or the incidents that permeate local and national media, through our acts of solidarity, we aim to highlight the increasing sense of insecurity that women feel in our city and demand action from those in power.

Protest is nothing if it isn’t eye-catching. Join us on 3rd March for a banner and placard-making event in the Hive in preparation for our Reclaim the Night march on 8th March. The march will start outside the Forum, make its way through the city, and conclude on the steps of City Hall.

We’ll provide art supplies and cardboard—you bring the slogans and solidarity.
