Thursday 24 October 2024, 5pm - 7:30pm
Bookable Room 6, Union House
THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED
Join us for an evening to celebrate Black History Month for a film screening and podcast live recording.
Louise Ndibwirende (she/her) is a Black and Queer filmmaker who is releasing her directorial debut "Speak Little One". This documentary seeks to validate, celebrate, and hold space for all the inbetween complexities of adoption from the lens of adoptees. It breaks down the uncomfortable and untold narratives society shields itself from and reshapes the story through unfiltered truth-telling of grief, displacement, identity and the unified journey of many adoptees as they come home to themselves. “Speak Little One aims to give permission for all adoptees to find their voice through reparenting, nurture and self love affirmations to their younger selves on the quest of unbreakable freedom and joy.
Following the film, the Q&A will be turned into a Podcast Live Recording hosted by Josh Rivers (he/him) who is the podcast host of Busy Being Black. Josh is Black and Queer creator, social justice communications professional and a public speaker.
This event promises to have soul lifting conversations around being a Black creative, reclaiming your voice and finding power in taking up space.
You are invited to join us for networking drinks in the Students' Union new LGBT+ bar.
