LGSM 40th Anniversary at UEA

JOIN US ON THE 23rd MAY FOR THE ANNIVERSARY OF PITS AND PERVERTS, LESBIANS AND GAYS SUPPORT THE MINERS!

In celebration of the fortieth anniversary of the creation Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM), and the birthday of integral member Mark Ashton, a group of uea(su) students have organised this event. Focusing on the theme of solidarity amongst all groups, the day will start in the afternoon with a number of guest speakers discussing representation and civic rights.

This will be followed by a poetry open mic from (you can sign up at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ucZCE7hjAH2mJtZ45BRD8ihn10c5dCQsc4rktlXZODo/edit?usp=sharing), before a poetry performance by New Writers’ and London Society shortlisted writer Asa Williams, a performance of traditional socialist songs by the Isle of Wight’s folk artist Ben Baker and finished by the union’s very own Pink Serene. Entry is free, although we encourage participants to use our donation points to consider helping the Terrence Higgins Trust, and/or bring an item of non-perishable food/hygiene products for Norwich Foodbank.
