A night of new music from The Garage’s Unsigned programme. 

This showcase event features Maple Ward, Juliet Price-Thomas, LFay and The Marijanovic. Fresh, distinctive sounds from four stand out performers. You don’t want to miss this! 

Unsigned is The Garage’s artist development programme, offering a year of free mentoring from industry professionals, studio recording experience and live performance opportunities. The course supports emerging artists to find and hone their sound, style, brand and audience. Unsigned is funded by Youth Music.

JULIET PRICE THOMAS 

Juliet is a new-R+B-pop artist just breaking onto the scene with her chilled beats and feisty attitude. Creating songs with ear-worm hooks about love, loss, and the need to move on with life, Juliet strives to create relatable and dance worthy tunes.

Influenced by stellar artists such as Mae Muller, Jorja Smith and Olivia Dean, but carving her own unique sound, Juliet produces some her own backing tracks and is the sole writer of her songs – a true young talent worthy of your time.

Hailing from London but residing in Norwich, Juliet has had a lifelong interest in the arts, starting in theatre and buying her first recording equipment at 15. She’s already graced stages at Latitude, Wild Paths and Head Out, Not Home, Voodoo Daddy's and Juliet will be releasing her debut single “manifestor’ later this year. Shows are being booked to celebrate its release, one of which will be an Industry Showcase at The Waterfront in Norwich.

LYDIA FAY 

‘LFay’ AKA Lydia Fay is a 19 year old rapper/Singer from the rural ends of Norfolk. LFay cites her influences as Amy Winehouse, Dirty Dike, Little Sims & Notorious BIG; a combination which sees her mix old school Hip Hop with Urban Jazz, creating a sound that would not seem out of place in the ‘Etta James’ era of the 1950’s.

’LFay’s creativity extends well beyond music and she is a keen silversmith & craftist but it is her clever play on words that attracts attention. Latest release ‘Tales of a Dosser’ is a good example with a series of playful observations addressing the effects that isolating circumstances have on a young mind. 

Part of Skate/Music/Free Party Collective ‘The Lower Sector’ LFay has shared the stage with fellow rappers and has been recruited for DJing duties along with her soundsystem ‘Riggie Smalls'. She has had tracks Remedy, Clouds & Get What You Give all selected for airtime on BBC Introducing while also being featured on the list for bbc introducing in suffolks “Ones to Watch In 2022.” LFay was featured in the Live line up of the ‘Maui-Waui Festival 2021’ alongside the likes of The Dub Pistols and Nebula Sun.

LFay will release a double sided Single (A)Origami Army/(B)Slide in June 2022.

Shows are being booked to celebrate its release, including an Industry Showcase at The Waterfront in Norwich.

KYLE ADAMS 

The Marijanovic’ channels dark brooding swathes of analogue synths, tribalistic drum beats overlaid with vulnerable torch song lyrics. ‘High of cheekbone’ with Bladerunner hair ‘The Marijanovic’ is ‘Marc Almond’s’ ‘Soft Cell’ meets ‘Trent Reznor’ at the 80’s ‘Blitz Club’ on a Saturday night.

Originally of Serbian heritage Kyle spent his youth in the Naval base town of Portsmouth and later moved to North Walsham in Norfolk. Kyle's old Serbian family name ‘Marijanovic’ has become his tag/stage name which he wears as a badge of honour. Drawing inspiration from bands such as ‘Waterparks’ and ‘Placebo’ ‘The Marijanovic’ has made inroads in the county of Norfolk over the last year playing; Wild Craft Brewery, Head Out Not Home, Wild Paths Festival, Latitude Festival, and ‘Ipswich Sound City’. These shows have seen him share the stage with luminaries such as ‘Billy Nomates’, ‘Chubby & the Gang’, ‘Damon Albarn’, ‘Wolf Alice’ and ‘Workingman's Club’.

‘The Marijanovic’ has embarked on several soft releases including gothic Xmas 2021 ballad ‘Xmas Kiss. His debut EP is set for release later this year.

MAPLE WARD 

Maple Ward is a 23 year old singer-songwriter, based in Norwich but originally from Southampton. She began writing as a way of finding solace from herself and the world around her. Maple contrasts folk guitar riffs and sweet vocal hooks with punchy ukulele pop to create her own distinct sound. Her influences include Phoebe Bridgers, Adrianne Lenker and Joni Mitchell. She draws inspiration from thought provoking lyrics, and has found her own way of expressing her authentic vulnerability through song. Maple Ward depicts a raw perspective on life from her "wonky brain"; where music is her means of catharsis.

Maple Ward is currently working on the release of her debut single set for release this year. She has performed in a number of venues around the UK including Liverpool's Cavern Club and has shared the stage with luminaries such as tinyumbrellas at Norfolk's Head Out Not Home festival. Maple's work has been featured on BBC Radio Solent, and her song "Just Be" was broadcast on BBC South Today for mental health awareness week.
