Hello!
My name is Kasey, I'm a second year psychology student and I'm running for Convenor for the School of Psychology!
I stand for Convenor as somebody who is motivated to empower student voices and encourage students to mould their education through open-discussion and self-advocacy. I'll direct you, as students, to currently underutilised services and opportunities provided by our wonderful staff, as well as encouraging staff to engage with you in the ways YOU find helpful. My priority is to provide a channel of communication between students and staff, through various means, in a way that is accessible without all the jargon. Our student body is diverse, with many needs so we must ensure that accessibility is key. My goal is to help make students’ transitions between the years smooth and give future years advice we have learned through our experience in the school of PSY. I intend to place a focus on providing internship and research opportunities for students within the school, particularly the lower years, as it is vital for obtaining high quality jobs. And, finally, I wish to ensure that every PSY student has the resources and tools to feel prepared for their journey through university and, importantly, the world after uni.
In essence my aim is this: regardless of who you are, where you are from, or whatever your story is, if you have an issue, my ultimate goal is to be the Convenor who is available to students and gets your issues resolved.
Thank you.
