Last Thursday we celebrated our annual Transforming Education Awards in the LCR. These awards celebrate academic and support staff who have gone above and beyond for students and are a great way for students to say thank-you to the staff who have supported them.

Advisor of the Year Award:
This award is to recognise the pastoral support that advisors provide to students, enabling them to feel supported in decisions of academic or welfare areas and who help students when in need.

Advocate for Students Award:
The Advocate for Students Award is here to recognise a member of staff who goes above and beyond to put the students interests at the centre of what they do. This may be continuing a message from students up through the School, or be someone who fights for the student experience at every step.

This award is to recognise the work of Student Partnership Officers in each area. Reasons could include whether they have gone the extra mile to encourage representation from all levels and courses in your School or regularly help students engage with representation and encourage to use the Student Voice.

The Vice Chancellors Award:
This special award was added this year to recognise the best of the best out of the winners and was awarded to Juliet Harrison (HSC)
University Teaching Fellowship:
This award is another addition to this years' ceremony and was awarded to Dr Tom Hargreaves from the School of Environmental Sciences. He will receive an Excellence in Teaching bursary for three years for personal and professional development.
I'd like to congratulate everyone who was nominated and shortlisted. We received over 450 nominations and whittling the entries down to a shortlist of 69 and then winners was very tough. The evening itself was a fantastic celebration of the staff at UEA and we're already looking forward to next years' event!
