The start of a new semester is a really fast-paced period where loads is going on, so we won’t blame you if you haven’t noticed a few new additions to Union House. Six brand new printers have arrived across the building. There’s two outside the gender neutral toilets, two next to the UNIO vending machines and two upstairs by Scholar’s bar. The best part? They’re completely free to use.
At uea(su) we recognise that money is a real concern for students, and printing course materials is expensive on campus – especially on courses with lots of reading, or for students who find reading off a screen difficult. The free printers will alleviate some of this strain and allow you to quickly print off what you need for your course without spending any money. Just remember to only print what you need and recycle the paper once you’re done to keep your environmental impact as low as possible.
The new printers are provided by a company called Printt and you can use them by downloading the Printt app. Printing is made free by the fact that a small portion of the page is sold by Printt as advertising space. So, while these printers are great for printing out drafts or readings, we wouldn’t recommend using them for coursework submissions.
If you’ve got reading to do or want to print essay drafts you can make notes on, why not try the new printers out? Download the app from your app store and get printing. You can find it on the App store here or on the Google Play store here.
